In conjunction with Prof David Jackson career celebration, two ESRs Michael Maria and Catherine Chin participated in a series of lab demonstration to seminar visitors.
Prof Jackson is the founder of the Applied Optics Group at the University of Kent. Since 1982, Prof Jackson has brought numerous success and several first inventions in photonics and fibre sensing. This event was held to commemorate the achievement of Prof Jackson throughout his career.
Prof Jackson has educated more than 100 graduates in the course of 40 years at Kent. Many of these graduate went on to become successful academics in world renowned institutions, and researchers in the photonics industry.
Prof Jackson retired in early 2000, and was named emeritus Professor by the University. Since then, he has continued his interest in research in the group, and has contributed to many supervision of graduate students to the group.
